About
In addition to providing driving lessons, Road Smart Driving School also provides instructor training to aspiring driving instructors/Potential Driving Instructors (PDIs). Training for PDIs is overseen by our company director Steve, and this has resulted in us expanding the areas we are able to provide lessons in.

Steve became a driving instructor because having long been involved in education and training (see below), he wanted to continue teaching in a way that had more flexibility than a school role, but in which he could help people work towards achieving their goals. A long-held enjoyment of driving paired with a background, made the decision towards teaching driving seem a natural progression.

As well as being an ADI, he has an extensive background in education and training with pupils from primary schools to adult learners. These experiences enabled him to identify the needs of, and work effectively with, a range of learners to focus on the best outcomes for them – something that set him apart from other local instructors.

As a qualified teacher, he held leadership positions in both primary and secondary schools and has worked in an advisory role for teachers in other schools. He holds a Master’s degree in education (MaEd).
Steven is also a qualified first aid instructor, able to teach a range of courses including First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid; additionally, he conducts monitoring and assessment of other trainers, and has, in the past, volunteered for several years as a community first responder.
